Our technology revolutionizes hydrogen generation by extracting it from water using waste heat, without relying on additional non-renewable energy sources. This is made possible through our prototype device, known as the “TIB-Device.” Imagine coupling it with an internal combustion engine, where the waste heat from the engine is utilized to convert water into hydrogen and oxygen. The produced hydrogen can then be stored or used as fuel for the engine, reducing or even replacing the need for fossil fuels and minimizing greenhouse gas emissions.
Given the vast number of globally produced combustion engines, we anticipate significant interest in our technology from industries in the future. To effectively address this interest, TIB-TEC has recognized the importance of time-to-market and has chosen a strategic approach. Instead of establishing our own production facilities and offering complete TIB-Device units to engine manufacturers or system integrators, we aim to enable seamless integration by licensing our technology to stakeholders and industrial partners. This approach ensures the technology can be tailored to the specific needs and expertise of applications like engine builders, optimizing the path to success.
The revolutionary core of our thermal inverter technology is the remarkable capability to produce hydrogen from water using significantly lower temperatures and therefore less energy than previously shown to be possible.
Similar to a conventional turbocharger, a Thermal Inverter Device (“TIB”) might be applied seamlessly integrated with a combustion engine. Harnessing the excess heat generated by the engine, the TIB device will unlock this energy to generate green hydrogen from water.
Our energy conversion technology doesn’t stop there. It has been designed from the beginning to integrate into industrial processes, serving as an integral component, optimizing efficiency and sustainability.
With TIB-TEC technology, the production of green hydrogen becomes independent of regionally available renewable electricity, logistical infrastructure, or costly electrolysis facilities. No valuable renewable energy goes to waste in the production of green hydrogen. Instead, we effectively and efficiently utilize existing waste heat, ensuring every ounce of renewable energy is utilized to its maximum potential.
The Thermal Inverter (TIB) comprises two main sections working in tandem. When connected to a suitable heat source, such as a combustion engine, thermal energy flows through the TIB device.
This thermal energy is directed through a heat exchanger, resembling a reverse radiator, consisting of several tubes through which water (input) flows while being converted into steam or a mixture of oxygen and hydrogen gases.
The resulting gas output from the thermal inverter is then directed into the separator unit which is of a unique design. In this unit, the hydrogen gas is collected at one output while oxygen is collected separately in a separate output. It is important to keep the hydrogen and oxygen separate, as they are not to be combined again, though the oxygen may find use in other applications.
By leveraging this process, the TIB maximizes the utilization of thermal energy to convert water into hydrogen and oxygen gases, offering an innovative and efficient solution.
